CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. ; a t the Addington market heavy, ^ntries were again forward. It was ■ a day of slackening prices. Most of j the large store sheep entry were j ewes from the North Island, a big ; proportion being two tooths. The j market slipped back on the prevlous sale by 2s 'to 3s per head, and passings were abnormally heavy. A heavy share of purchasiug was done by operaiors from south o£ the Rangitata river and but for this element it would have been a sick Eale. Lambs were back by ls 6d a bead. The continued lack of rain is caus-, Ing unusual caution on tbe part of buyers. Best forward lambs to> 19s; fairly goo drape lambs 15s 6d to 17s; medium 13s 6d to 15s; small and inferior lls to 13s; culls 8s to , 10s 6d; good three-quarterbred mixed sex lambs 20s; inferior halfbred ewe lambs 18s Sd to 21s; good halfbred wether lambs 17s 6d to 20s. Best North Island two-toothed ewes to 32s 3d; good North Island two-tooih ewes 26s to 28s 6d; inferior North Island two-tooth ewes &4s to 25s 6d; good four, six and eight-toothed ewes 21s 6d to • 23s; lower conditioned four, six and eight-toothed crossbred ewes 16s to 19s; sound and failing mouthed halfbred ewes 20s to 24s 6d; twotoothed halfbred ewes 34s ld; good forward four, six and eight-toothed halfbred wethers 22s 5d. Fat Lambs— A small entry of 2600 bead and a good, sale, values being a shade in advance of ^ the schedule rate for export, Extra prime to 28s 10d:» prime 24s 6d to 26s 6d; medium 22s to 24s ld; light 20s to 21s 9d. Fat Sheep — A small entry and a sound sale for all sorts, export ewes particulariy. There was tio quotable change in values. Extra prime j wethers to 32s 7 d: prime wethers j 26s to -28s 0d; medium wethers 24s j to 25s Sd; light wethers 21s 6d. to 23s ld; extra prime ewes to 23s 4d; prime 17s to 21s; medium 14s 9d to 16s 9d; light 13s to 14s 6a; aged 10s 6d to 12s 9d, Fat Cattle— 550 were yarded. One of the hardest saies of the year i for all classes except a few pens of parti'cularly well finished steers and heifers. Some of this class made up to 35s per 100 Ibs, but* the bulk of j tbe general quality beef was from ; 30s to 32s 6d, with heavy from 26s to 28s. and inferior down to 25s. | Extra heavy prime steers to £15 2s nd ; prime medium weight steers £12 j to £14 ICs: medium quality steers £9 to £11 10s; light steers £6 HJs to £8 15s; extra' prime heifers to £13 17s 6d: prime £7 10s to £9 5s; medium £5 5s to £7; licht £4 5s to £5; extra prime cows to £13 12s: 6d; ! prime cows £6 5s to £8 5s; ordinarv cows £4 15s to £6; rough cows £3 17s 6d to £4 10s. Vealers — Runners to £6 15s; good calves £5 to £5 15s; medium £3 10s to £4 18s 6d; small and inferior 10s to 25s. Dairy Cattle — a slacker sale. First.to fourth calvers £8 10s to £12 10s; others £3 10s to £8 6s; good heifers £6 1 (ls to £10. Store Cattle — A line of 2 year steers made £6 and yearlings £2 13s 6d- cows to £4 10s. Fat Pigs — A large entry and slightly lower saies. Choppers £3 to £4 10s; baconers £3 7s to £4 14s. (Average per 1b 5d to 64d). Porkers 45s to 50s. (Average per lb 7d. to 8d). Store Pigs — A pronounced drop in values narticularly for weaners. Weaners 12s to 23s; stores 23s to 40s; extra large to 53s; sows in pig £3 10s to £i 2s 6d.
