DUNEDIN, Last Night. At Burnside to-day, fat cattle eased some shillings, and sheep recovered. Otherwise prices were uttle altered. Sheep. — A penning of 1927. The yarding included a good many lots of medium weight prinie ewes, a fair proportion of well finished wethers, and some light sheep. A bright opening, and though tbe demand was irregular it was fairly keen. Heavy ewes were finally ls dearer and wethers by from ls to 2s. Extra heavy prinie wethers 30s 8d to 33s; prime heavy 27s Cd to 28s 6d; light 21s to 23s 3d; best ewes 23s to 25s; medium 15s 6d to 16s 6d; light 11s 6d to 13s; (prime wether mutton made 5d to 51 d per 1b, prime ewe 44d, aged 4d). Lambs. — A penning of> 636 including some lambs of fair quality, but mostly comprised of uafinished sorts. Inquiry was from quiet to fair and prices were much on a par with last week's. Heavy lambs 27s to 28s 6d; prime 24sffid to 26s 6d; medium 22s to 23s 3d; unfinished 16s 6d to 19s (lanib made 7d to 8d per Ib). Fat Cattle. — A yarding of 260; an excellent enxry of prime bullocks and cowsi and a few pens of medium quality animals. The opening demand was slack, and some offer(ngs were passed. Prices were from 12s 6d to 15s easier. •Prime bullocks £11 10s to £12 17s 6d;- heifers , £5 10s to £8; cows £4 15s to £7 10s. (Extra prime ox beef made 34s per lOOlbs, light 32s: prime heifers 30s; cows and ligh? heifers 22s 6d to 25s). Store Cattle. — A yarding of 270. constituted almost of cows of mixed quality. Two consignments of bullocks were passed at auction. Values we'ne unchanged. Pigs. — A small penning Of 65 fats tandi 66 stores. Fat pigs realised about last week's rates while stores gfeowed an improvement of 2s, . |
