CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. A fair amount of wheat has been selling during the week, the general value being 5s Id on trucks. Saies "at 5s have not been numerous, growers showing little inclination to accept this price. P Fowl wheat is selling at 5s 5d f.o.b., for prompt delivery, or 5s 6d spr'ead. Some samples of broken wheat are on the market ,at a lower price, but poultrymen are not attracted by them. Garton oats have been sold at 2s 7M f.o.b., for B's for prompt, but buyers are scarce for spreacl delivery. A's are quoted at 2s 10d spread, equal to 2s 2d to 2s 3d on trucks. Algerians are quoted at 2s on trucks. The position with oats is that there is no demand from the north, and purchasers are looking round for some place to market what they have bought. Peas are a shade firmer due to reports of threshings being below expectations. Quotations have recovered to 8s 6d a bushel on trucks and for prompt shipment to 6s 9d. Potatoes are a shade easier and are quoted at £4 5s f.o.b. s.i. At this &gure north- , ern buyers are looking. The ontrucks price vt ' £3 but there is no rush by growers to quit. It is significant that inost of the merchants' buying is being done by southern operators which might be taken to indicate that the fields in the south are not promising. Chaff is worth £3 on trucks for average wayside station. Perennial i'yegrass is rneeting with a little more interest, but. there is not much business doing. Values are from 2s 3d to 2s 6d on trucks.
