At t special meeting of the Chamber of Commerce 10-day to consider the form to be issued by the Income Tax Department tor returns of income It was resolved that the committee forward a protest against the inquisitorial character of the forms ••nt out by the Department for returns of income, and that a circular be forwarded to other Chambers in the colony inviting their co-operation in the matter, with a -view of the forms being considerably modified. At the Chamber of Commerce meeting It was resolred that a coma it tee address * remonstrance to the Commissioner of Taxes against the system vbioh has been adopted of sending round acoouutants to make a gantral inspection of the book! of the mttoantie community.
