Mr E. P. Bucbury (on beh.ilf of the New Zealand Loau and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited) reports as follows : Sheep. —There was only a fair entry of sheep at the Junction Yards yesterday, and the tone of the mirket wa*» similar to that of last sale day. Although pnefs generally are low, they compare very favorably with those ruling at other centics. Butchers were in full supply, but notwithstanding, values of fat old ewes were f.iirly well maintained. Heavy ewes brought up to 6s 6d. Very few store 2-tooths came forward. We told a pen of haifbreds (small) at da. A nice even line of store crossbred lamb* brought 5s 2d. Particulars of our sales are as follows : 60 fat crossbred ewes, at 6s 6d ; 60 do, at 5s (id ; 60 do halfbre.l ewes, at 5s 3d ; 33 2-tooth halfbrcd ewes and wethers (small*, at 6s; 43 cull and crossbred ewes, at 2s 6d ; 231 crossbred lambs, at 5s 2d : 100 crossbred lambs (small), at 2s 6d. Privately duiing the past fortnight we have placed 2000 fat sheep and 2000 store 2-tooth ewes and wethers at market rates. Cattle — A small entry. We did not pen any fat cattle, and think a few could liavo been placed to advantage. Stores were dull of sale. D.ury cows were in keen demand, and we sold 4 very nice sorts on behalf of AJr Keid (EUleralie) as under : 1 just calved, at LH 2s Gd ; 2 near culving, at L 7 us each ; 1 do, LG 17s 6d. Privately during the fortnight we sold saveial Ayrshire cows to u northern buyer at full current prices. Pigs. — The pens were simply '•flooded' with these, ond consequently sales were dull. We, however, succeeded in placing our large entry of 00 as under : Weaners, 2a fid to 6d ; slips, 7s to 103 Gel. Wheat. — \ keen demand exists for new season's wh at, and the tone of the market is decide Uy firmer than when wi last reported. We <|vote best velvet and Tiscm at 2s 7d to 2s 7Jd, f.0.b., or 2a 5d to 2a o'A at sidings ".sacks extra). Whola fowl wheat lias fair enquiry at 2s 2d to 2s 3d, f.o.b. Oats.-— Enquiry is almost nil, unless .it prices which fanners do not f<jcl inclined to atcopt. We quote Danish at Is Id, f o.b. ; shot, li 3d to Is 4d, f.0.b.; Duns, Is4d, f.o.b. (sacks extra). Barley. — Maltsters are fully stocked for the pres.-nt and do not seem inclined to do business unless at considerably reduced prices. Largo quantities of second class barley are being placed upon the nuiket, which has caused buyers to hold aloof.

Messrs Fleming and Hedley rcpoit that there was a fair attendance at the Junction Yards yesterday, but the entry of sheep wnt only an average one. Of cattle there was only a small entry, but notw ithstanding this competition was lifeless, and abo t one-third of the entry was passed unsold, vendors' reserves being too high for l>u=sinr=B to be effected.
