LONDON MARKETS.

Tlio National Mortgage and Agency Company reports under date London, March 22ud, as follows :

WOOL. The second series of tho Colonial Wool Auctions for the current year commenced here on the 7th instant. There wasa good attendance of the trade at the opening sitting, and prices for merino stap'o in grease, generally showed a riso of about 5 per cent, tins, however, was inoro particularly notijpable in tho case of heavier and wastier descrip'ions, than in tho better and lighter sorts, which, although strongly compoted for, wore not quotably doirer than on the last occasion. On this basis (he market has progressed firmly —tho tono being stronger than at the opening —some descriptions showing a further advance of 2^ per cent, t-coured merinos of good body and condition have not differed much from last sales, but most) of the lower kinds, including fnulty descriptions, are £d, and sometimps even Id, dearer. Cross-breds of the h'ner grade havo shown little, if any change from last time; bright coarse qua'ities, especially when of good length (so much of this class from the North Island of New Zealand being this year deficient in length), havo appreciated about !d, while low inferior nnd very wasty sorts, which last sales were exceedingly do pressed, now moot with a ready salo ab an advance of to Jd per lb. Slipes havo hardly been represented — the fow lots catalogued, howerer, have meb firm competition ab about £d advance on closing February rates. As at present arranged, the current series will close on tho 30th instanb.
