At Waikouaiti today Henry Alfred P»fker and Charles Parker wore charged with placing sleepers on the railway line, near &»acliu7 on the I,3th April. Tho only •vidence connecting them with the offence wu the admission to the police of Charles i Parker that he and hi* brother had placed the sleepers on the line. The charge against Henry rarker w.ib dismissed, and Charles Parkvr was committed for trial, bail being allowed The directors of the National Insurance Company have declared a dividend of 15 per cent per annum for the half year ended 31st March. The directors of the Trustee, Executor*, and Agency Compai.y of New Zealand, in their report state that the net profit for the year is 1/1159 Os SJ, which, with the balance brought; forward, rmkea the total at credit of L 1646 17s lid. They reoommeod the following appropriations ; To a 7 per cent dividend, L7OO ; roserve fund, L 50 0; to be carried forward, L44C 17s lid. George Girdiner was committed for trial to day for stealing L4l worth of goods, mostly furniture. A number of pastoral leases in the Maniototo, Tiger Hill, and Like distoicta were oflered by auction to-day, Four wtre bsld at the upset, but the rest had to bt pawed in.
