POTATO FREIGHT.
At five o'clock a deputation represent' ing the potato growers in the district was introduced by Mr Duncan. There were 'about twelve In the deputation, and Mr Alex. Thomson and Mr D. M'Lennun acted as spokesmen. The deputation wired chat the railway freight on potato*! should be reduoed from Oaraara to Dunedin from 12a Qd p>r ton to about 81.
Mr Cad man said that they could not reduce one distance without affecting the whole ttriff. He would, however, look into tlio matter when ho went to Wellington.
