WELLINGTON. April 26.
Tho Premier received a telegram from Mr Carroll stating that he had a long conference with the natives at Ituatoki and ovorything was quiet. Ho told tho natives that a subdivis onal survey and ring boundary Burvey which tho Government insisted on being made was to enable tho whole of the lands within (he colony to be placed on tho map of New Zealand. The nativos asked that tho survey might bo stopped until they could como to Wellington to sco tho Premier, but Mr Carroll promptly refused this request. Instructions have been issued to the contingent permanent artillery stationed at Wellington to hod itself in readiness to proceed to the East Coast.
