INVERCARGILL. April 27.
At 10 o'clock yesterday morning, Alexander Sutherland, Pettr Cameron, and James Crnnnrty, three elder y minors, were crossing from Coal I>land to the lighthouse store at Puysegur Point in a small boat to get letters and pipers brought by the steamer Invercargill. White passing through the narrow passage the boat struck a rock and capsized. On either aide kelp was growing mid the nurf breaking, xhich rendered swimming difficult, but Philip Paynp, the fourth occupant, managed to reach the shore after b.iug in the water over an hour, and making a desporate effort to save Cameron. The accident htpponed over 80 yaids from the landing place, from where a man named Burgess heard the cri's, bul being very short-sighted he saw nothing of those struggling in the water. If bs had there was a boat handy, and he could hare rescued them.
