The other day ouo of their numbor, a cattle buyer called Foggarty, thought he would like to take a • fall ' out of our local man, who goes by tho name of 'Any Advance.' 'The first lot, gontlemen,' said 'Any Advance,' 'is a bay (illy by Honolulu, etc.' 'The first lot, gontlomon,' echoed Foggarty in pro* cisoly tho samo tone of voce, ' ia a bay filly by Honolulu, etc' The auctioneer looked somewhat annoyed, but proceeded. ' What shall wo say to begin with?' 'What shall wo say to b.gm with V roplied Iho echo. Still endeavoring to ttmceal his vexation, Mr 'Any Advance' called out 'Fifty guineas.' ' Fifty echoed Foggarly, ' Thank you, sir,' cried * Any Ad vanco,' bringing down tho h munor with a bamj. •Tho filly is yours.' Foggarty wts considerably taken aback by his suddoti acquisition of ' blood stock,' as tho filly was not worth a ' fiver,' bub tho company onjoyed tho joke immonsely."
