A now pilot station is now erected on the north-sido entranco to the Manawatu Rivur, and is plainly viaiblo several miles from sea. The coloniql tidal and bar or danger signals Are in use, as well as the international code. Two movoable beacons—the seaward one painted red, and the landward one black — which can bo seen two or throe miles, are placed, which, kopt in one, lead over the bar. At night, when the bar is passable, a green light is shown on the red or seaward beacon, and a red light on the black beacon, in addition to tho whito light on the flagstaff, which is always shown, and may bo «ccn in clear weather eight or ten miles.
