OTEPOPO ROAD BOARD.
The monthly meeting of this Board was hold on Friday, May 3rd. Present — Messrs Henderson (chair), Falconer, Watson, Russell, M'Donald, Marshall, and Nowlands. Tho minutes of last meeting wore adopted as read. It was resolved, on tho motion of Mr Falconer, seconded by Mr Nowlands, that the Olcvk write to the County Council, asking tho refund of L 179 6s 2d, being tho amount expended on tho Mahono Road by this Hoard sinco its proclamation a3 a county road. On the motion of Mr M'Donald, socended by Mr Marshall, it was ordered that the Clerk supply tho returns asked for by tho Government. A letter was road from Mr Martin, intimating the Council's intention of retaining the Mahono road as a county road. Loiter received. On tho motion of Mr Marshall, seconded by Mr M'Donald, Mr Henderson was appointed Returning Officer. Mr Falconer moved that the Clerk take tho necessary stops, unc'or the 23 th section of tho "Public Works Act. 1876," for taking tho land required for
the deviation of the Breakneck ro&d. Seconded by Mr Marahall, and carried. The following tenders were then opened :— For contract 59 : James Blair, L 9 11s ; Hill Brothers, Ll2O 8s 4d (reduced plan) ; LB5 Is Bd. Contract 61 : James Blair, L 39 19s Id. Contract 62 : James Blair, L 77 Us 6d ; Hill Brothers, L7l 13s lid. Contract 63 : James Blair. Ll4 7s. On the motion of Mr Russell, seconded by Mr Henderson, the lowest tenders for contracts 59 and 62 were accepted. On the motion of Mr Watson, seconded by Mr Russell, the lowest tenders for contracts 60 (original plan), 61, and 63 wore accepted. Three accounts were passed for payment, and the Board adjourned.
