OAMARU DISTRICT SCHOOL.
The first meeting of the new Committee yvas held on the 18th inst. Present—Messrs. Gibbs (in the chair), Ashcroft, Sumpter, Smith, Ingram, Grenfell, Bain, and Pinkerton. It yvag moved by Mr Ashcroft, seconded by Mr Ingram, and carried—" That a sub-committee — Messrs Gibbs, Ashcroft and Grenfell (Mr Gibbs, convener) —be appointed to visit the school and to report to an adjourned meeting of committee to be held on 25t'h inst. at 7 p.m., at which Mr Paradise, the teacher, be requested to attend." Proposed by Mr Ashcroft, seconded by Mr Pinkerton, and carried—" That the Clerk be requested to obtain a copy of the Education Reserves Act about to be brought before the Provincial Council through Mr Miller, the local representative, and to enquire when the Croyvn grants for Education Reserves may be expected to be issued. Mr J. Y. Ward was re-appointed clerk, and Mr Locke treasurer to the Committee.
