The Exports for 1862 were
set down by the Collector of Ens-
toms as of the value of £34,155:
Os: 6d; for 1863 at £75,859:145:—
being more than double th e
amount of the previous year.
The chief item in both tables
is of course that of Wool-1862
having Exported 374,148 lbs.,
Value £21,372: 1863,925,793 lbs.,
value of £52,826:55. The latter
year also shows a great increase
in the Export of fat stock—
16,050 sheep having been ship-
ped for 3516 in 1862 and 862
head of cattle for 379.
We learn that captain Corfield
proceeds immediately to Dunedin
With a view of inlisting a com-
pany of a hundred military
settlers to serve in this Province.
We believe also that arrange-
ments are about to be nade for
Placing the Eavalry Volunteers
On a more Efficient footing.
The Saving Bank was opened
for the first time last Wednes-
-day evening. The business done
