Public Meeting.
Pleuro — Pneumonia.
A Public meeting convened by
advertisement was held at the
Northern. Hotel, on Saturday last,
to consider the best means to be
adopted called pluro- Perrumonia
disease called Pleuro — Pneumonia.
to the district now prodaimed in-
feeted, and also to memorialize
the superintendent to appoint a
paid Inspector to watch the found-
-ary of the infected district known
as the Horse Range .The meeting

James Hassell Esq on being voted
into the chair read the advertisement
Convening the meeting and after
Some discussion as to what would to
the best course to pursue in order to-
Obtain the twofold object of the meet-
-ing in which nearly all present
took part the following resolutions
were passed:—
Proposed by Henry Camp bell Esq.
and seconded by W.G. Filleul, Esq
that a memorial to this Honor the
Superintendent be drawn up for
Signature,prayi ng that the present
fundary of the infected district,
Excepting the Northern boundary
Known as the Horse Range be kept
Match; that the shag River be
declared the foundary instead
of the Horse Range: that the
ground lying north of the Shag
River on the top of the Horse Range,
be proclaimed neutral ground:
and that an Ins pector be appoint
-ed and paid by the Government
to watch the Northern boundary of
The said infected district.
Proposed by Mr.French and
Seconded by Mr. GilChrist that
a committee consisting of messers
W.G. Fillenl ,Gray speneer and
Henry Campbell be appointed
To draw up the memorial.
Moved by Mr. Gilchrist and Se-
-conded by Mr. Gilchrist that
messrs spencer and Fillent be
requested to join with the Repre-
sentatives of the town ans Dis-
-trict of Oamaru (Messrs Miller
And Gleeson) as a deputation to
Wait on Hes Honour and urge
The prayer of the memorial,
This Ended the business and the meeting closed.
