MILITARY BALL

THIS EVENING’S FUNCTION Flags of the Soviet Republic and of China will hang side by side with the Union Jack and the Stars and Stripes this evening at a military ball held in the Velma Hall. The decoration of the dance hall has been a feature of previous military balls and extensive preparation has been made by the committee organising to-night’s function. The whole hall had been reserved for dancing and supper will be served in the Labour Hall. An excellent supper has been arranged by the ladies' committee and floral sprays and soft drinks will be available in the ballroom. The proceeds of the ball will go to the prisoner of war parcels’ fund. A large number of service men and women are expected to attend.
