STOCK DEMONSTRATIONS
; FIELD DAY AT SNOWDEN'S BUSH The activities of the Nelson Agricultural and Pastoral Association ha\e been seriously limited by the occupation of the show grounds as a military [ camp. Following the decision not to i hold the annual show many suggestions for alternative ways to maintain the interest of members and to continue the functions of the association have been considered by the committee. A request from the Nelson Jersey Breeders’ Club, that the help of the association be given to its annual demonstration day. resulted in a meeting between the club and a deputation from the association, at the home of Mr W. D. Dion. Hope. Very many helpful I suggestions were made, and the deI cision was reached to hold a lield day Iwith stock demonstrations, at Snowden's Bush, on Saturday, 7th November. It was at first decided to hold this J demonstration on 14th November, but j when it was found that the College sports meeting was held on that day. the demonstration was put forward to 7th November. The A. and P. Association agreed to arrange for competitive classes for ponies, pet lambs and calves. Mr L. A. Higgins generously donated prize money for the lamb and calf classes. Arrangements were made for the attendance of stock demonstrators and members of both bodies agreed to have stock on the grounds for exhibition and for demonstration purposes. These arrangements include Jersi.ys (Mr L. A. Higgins*. Aberdeen Angus (Mr A. Newman). Shorthorns (Mr C. H. Smith*, j Red Polls (Mr J. L. Borlase», Clydesi dales (Mr A. E. 7 ax ». Romney. Ryland. Southdown. Border Leicester, Dorset I Horn, sheep and fat lambs (Messrs I Borlase. Sutton. Max. Dron, Page and Booth).
