FIGHTING SERVICES CLUB

WEEK-END ACTIVITIES The usual crowd of visitors to the Fighting Services Club this week-end was increased by a number of visiting servicemen who were passing through Nelson. On Sunday afternoon well over 60 were served with afternoon tea and there were more than 50 for tea and for supper. The bowls of lilac, purple irises and tulips made the club room look bright, and easy chairs and plenty of papers and magazines provided comfort and relaxation. The more energetic visitors played ping pong and other games, while for the others there were cards, Chinese checkers, community singing, etc. The committee was very grateful to receive gifts of cakes,'scones and other food, which greatly assisted them in catering for the large number of visitors.
