E.P.S. SERVICE
(To the Editor) Sir.—According to the “Evening Mail some of the leaders of the Christchurch E.P.S. and Home Guard resigned, yet members of the rank and file were fined £5 for missing rehearsals of the E.P.S in other parts of the country. Incidentally I might mention that members of the War Administrative Council resigned also. Apparently the leaders of the EPS. and Home Guard can resign with impunity, while tlie ordinary members get punished, and we are supposed to be fighting for I* reedom.—l am. etc.. BOOMERANG. Nelson. 16th Oct. It is pointed out that the members of the Christchurch Committee handed in their resignations as officials, and these may or may not be accepted by the Minister. The resigning officials still continue to be members of the E.P.S. No penalties for non-attendance at rehearsals have yet been enforced in Nelson, though Unit Controllers have the light to impose a fine of £2. But 60 members of the reserve unit who failed to attend a parade called for them at Trafalgar Park have received notices calling on them to show reason why disciplinary action should not be taken against them for failing to supply information as requested
