PATRIOTIC SHOP DAT | COLLEGE BOYS’ FINE EFFORT The splendid sum of L'4l4 was ! raised by the boys of Nelson ColI lege as a result of their efforts for I their Patriotic Shop Day on Thurs- ! day last. ’The effort was a truly remarkable one.” said the chairman of the Nelson City Patriotic Committee (Mr A. H. Crawley) to-day. He congratulated those responsible for the whole organisation, and especially the boys of the College for the tremendous enthusiasm and the amount of time they had devoted to collect-
ing the articles for sale. The introduction of a shoe-shining service was one of the novelties of the shop, and there was a ready de- | mand for wheelbarrows, step-lad-ders, bookcases, etc-, made by the boys themselves. An energetic committee which assisted the boys at the shop, comprised Mesdames H. V. Searle, W. B. Griffin, K. Inwood. J. A. Harley, and R. A. Stedman, and Miss Levestam. and Messrs K Gibbons. Brown and ; Elliott, who were assisted by many : other willing helpers.
