It will be found that no provision has i been made for “T” coupons in the chil- j dren’s books, which means that children j under the age of 10 years will not be ' entitled to a tea ration, while an addi- . tional clothing allowance will be made available to all children 5 years of ago and over but under 17 years of age on Ist January, 1942. The old ration book will, of course, have to be retained by the holder as the “M” coupons are valid until the end of May, 1943. and the “O” coupons will be j available for clothing from 19th Octo- | her until May, 1943. Even after all “M” i and “O” coupons are expended, the old : ration book should still be retained by j the holder, so that, if required, it may | be produced for inspection. i Although not officially stated it is probable that the clothing coupons in ! the new books will not be available till I June next year. NEW PAGES ; The new ration books have 52 coupons for sugar and the same number for tea. In place of letters the words “sugar” and “tea” are printed on the coupons. The 26 clothing coupons are not numbered. There are also pages of E and F coupons, for an unspecified purpose. An emergency sugar coupon pege is included for the use of travellers. Sugar coupons may be gummed on to this emergency page and these will be t available for use anywhere in New Zealand. TEA AND SUGAR PURCHASES Tea will still be purchaseable at any shop. Coupons 21 to 26 in the old books are cancelled. For November, coupons 1 to 4 in the ne\v T book will be ■ available, but their value has not vet * been announced. For sugar the consumer must remain registered with one retailer, and in > November coupons 1 to 4 in the new book will be available. > As far as licensed retailers of tea , and sugar and collective consumers . who buy wholesale are concerned, a new procedure for drawing supplies , will come into effect in November.
