NELSON HAPPINESS CLUB
TALK ON INDIA The monthly meeting of the Nelson Happiness Club was held in the Oddfellow’s’ Hall, there being 90 members and friends present. The meeting opened with all standing for a minute’s silence for peace and protection and for members who had suffered bereavement during the past month. The singing of the National Anthem and “Happiness to You” followed. The president. Mrs Clements, welcomed all present, and members who hal celebrated their birthdays each received a buttonhole of spring flowers Sixteen new members were enrolled. After the business had been completed, the newly-formed Singing Circle, led by Mrs Claughton, gave a most enjoyable item which received hearty applause. Afternoon tea was served by the tea hostess, Mrs Stafford and committee, after which Lady Scott gave a very interesting talk on her life in India and of experiences in the hills near BurMrs Clements, on hehalf of members, thanked Lady Scott and presented her with a shoulder spray. The bring and buy stall did very brisk business and was soon sold out.
