ANOTHER N.Z. PATROL SHIP
LAUNCHING AT AUCKLAND Auckland. Oct. 14. Another Fairmile patrol vessel for the New Zealand Navy was launched to-day from the boatyard of Charles Bailey and Sons, two weeks after the launching of the first vessel built in Auckland. The job of this trim, aggressive-looking craft will be to hunt enemy submarines. It is the symbol of the ability of New Zealand craftsmen to build fighting ships, and the keel of a third such vessel is about to be laid. A benedictory adress was given by the Rev. Jasper Calder. M.B.E. Two verses of the hymn “Eeternal Father" were sung, and the Technical College trumpeters sounded the "Reveille.” Mrs W. F. Callum, wife of the chairman of directors of the building firm, broke the traditional bottle of wine.' and the vessel slid into the sparkling waters ready for duty.—P.A.
