HONOUR FOR N.Z. ATHLETE

TO COMPETE IN BRITISH ASSOCIATION (Rec. 1.30 p.m.) London, Sept. 2. Sergeant Pilot Leslie Wood, Christ church, had the honour of being invited by the British Amateur Athletic Association to run for it at Reading on sth September and at Portsmouth on 19th September. The only other athletes in the Empire who have so far competed for the Association are Jack Lovelock and a Canadian pole vaulter. Wood was formerly Canterbury hurdling champion. He recently had a successful day when competing in R.A.F. station sports and with R. Penny, of Levin, and another won a relay race.—P.A. Special Correspondent.
