CANADIAN WAR RISK INSURANCE
Advice has been received by the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce from the office ol' the High Commissioner for Canada that war risk insurance can now be obtained on goods awaiting shipment in Canada. Many inquiries have been made by New Zealand importers of Canadian goods and the High Commissi ;ner has now been advised that a War Insurance Bill was enacted by the Canadian Gov. ! eminent on Ist August. Insurance policies under it will not be available un- ! til the middle of September, but in the J meantime blanket coverage up to i 50,000 dollars is available under the I Act. The advice from the High Com- | missioner says that the definition of ' property would appear to cover mer- ; chandise in store or warehouse in j Canada, but would not cover goods on | board ships used in salt water. Marine I war risk insurance is still available l from commercial companies, but there docs not appear to be any company I selling war risk insurance on property I in Canada.
