CERTAIN GOODS FROM U.S.A.

REMISSION OF DUTY WANTED Remission of duty on goods purchased from the United States where such goods are not available from the United Kingdom or other British countries has been suggested by the Bureau of Importers to the Government. They had in mind particularly those lines where duly differential between the United Kingdom and U.S.A. is 34 per cent. The United Kingdom Government has requested the New Zealand Government to order many of its requirements from U.S.A. The Government has replied that the suggestion cannot be adopted.
