BOWLING

PUBLIC SERVICE TOURNAMENT The preliminary series of games in the annual public service indoor Dowling tournament was completed this week In section A. P.W.D. “B” was the most successful with eight wins, Police “A,” P.W.D. “A,” and Railway being close up with seven wins. In this section, the withdrawal of four teams necessitated crediting wins by default, but as these were fairly evenly distributed, the result was not affected thereby. In section B, which provided a more even contest, P. and T. “A” gained seven wins, P.W.D. “C” being next with six wins. The competition will be completed on Thursday evening next when the following teams will play off under the usual tournament conditions:—P.W.D. “A,” “B” and “C,” P. and T. “A,” “B,” and “C,” Police “A,” Railway, Public Trust, and National Service. NELSON BOWLING CLUB The final meeting of the year was held by the Nelson Bowling Club committee for the purpose of clearing up business before the annual meeting on the 2nd September. A draft copy of the annual report was approved. New members approved for election were: Messrs G. Munro, R. Tripney, R. L. Paterson and John Higgs.
