THE GOOD TEMPLARS
NELSON AND TAHUNA The weekly session of the Hope of Tahuna Temple was held in th Public Hall, presided over by Bro T. Vass, in the unavoidable absence of the chief Templar. The weekly temperance duty lesson was gone through, followed by the routine of business. Bro. R. Watson, of Nelson, who was present, referred to the meeting as being the first of the year. He urged all members to work hard for the two prizes—one for getting most members and the other for the member obtaining most marks for good conduct. A discussion took place on the friendly cricket match to be played between the Nelson and Tahuna Temples, and it was left with Bro. Watson to arrange a suitable date for the match. It was announced that members wishing to become pen friends with junior members of the order in England, should hand in their names to the superintendent, and they would be sent to Sis. Patrick, S.J.T., of a Liverpool temple. The remainder of the session was spent in competitions, Bros. Watson, D Snowden, T. Vass, and G. Briggs being adjudged the winners. On Saturday evening the weekly session of the Hope of Nelson Temple was held in the 1.0. R. Hall, presided over bv Chief Templar Sis. M. Graham. The chief item for the evening was “Surprise Packet,” which proved very interesting. Bro. Somerville, S.J.W., of Tahuna Temple, who was present, offered to provide a “surprise packet” for next session, the offer being accepted. Bro. Somerville presented the two prizes for the competitions held the previous session. Recitations were well rendered by Sis Mrs Watson and Sis. K. McEwan. Refreshments were afterwards handed round. The item for next week was announced as “pound night.”
