FINED FOR SLANDER

TENNIS PLAYER’S STATEMENT (United Press Association— By Eleotrio Telegraph—Copyright) BERLInT 10th January. The Davis Cup player, Prenn, was fined £ls for slandering a firm of racquet makers by declaring that they had made an allegation that he had demanded £l5O for using their racquets, which was a lie. Correspondence was produced in the Court which showed that Prenn refused to accept payment, but was prepared to take up a salaried position in the firm’s office. It is expected that the case will reopen the question of Prenn’s amateur status.
