BOXING

HEENEY COUNTED OUT IN THIRD ROUND

(United Press Association— By Eleotrio Telegraph—Copyright)

NEW YORK, 16. th January. Max Baer, of California, is credited with a knockout over Heeney in the third round. Heeney, casually listening to Dempsey’s count after being pushed through the ropes, was declared knocked out.

All the sporting writers, who encouragingly pushed Tom back, agree that he was far from taking the count. In fact, he was as hard as a rock and had led easily in the first two rounds. Heeney was prepai'ing to resume when the timekeeper, Donovan, and Dempsey, told him the fight was over. Tom said: “I am not hurt,” and looked disappointed. It is generally agreed he could have gone back in plenty of time but was listening comfortably to Dempsey s count.
