POIGNANT TRAGEDY
STATIONMASTER MURDERED IN PRESEN,CE OF HIS WIFE (United Preiw Association—By Eleotrts Telegraph—Copyright) DELHI, 16th January. One of the most poignant tragedies in the Burma rebellion occurred at a wayside station at Zibqugon. A party of 50 at midnight surrounded and entered the quarters of a young Bengali stationmaster, Dey Young. His Burmese wife begged for her husband’s life on her knees and offered her worldly possessions of jewellery worth three hundred rupees. Tlie rebels took the jewellery, dragged Dey to the platform) raided the safe and stole two hundred rupees, cut the telegraph wires, forced Dey on his knees and hacked him to pieces despite the frantic appeals of .his wife in their own language.
