VISIT TO SOUTHLAND (By Telegraph—Press Association) INVERCARGILL, 14th January.. The Governor-General, Lord Bl’edisloe, and Lady Bledisloe, who arrived at Invercargill last evening on thenfirst visit to Southland, were accorded a public reception this afternoon. A large crowd ’gathered in Queen’s Park to greet Their Excellencies. The Mayor presented His Excellency with a feather-bound album containing the official address of welcome, and in addition a collection of photographic views of the city of Invercargill, several country districts of Southland, the Southern Lakes, and the Sounds. To-night the members of the ViceRegal party are guests at a dinner tendered by the Southland A. and IJ.1 J . Association, and the Farmers’ Union. To-morrow, following a round of visits in Invercargill, Their Excellencies will go to Bluff, where they will board the Government steamer Matai for the West Coast.
