MORE WAGES AND LESS HOURS
ACTION BY LANG CABINET ADDITIONAL TAXATION LEVIED (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 16th January, 9.55 a.m.) SYDNEY. This Day. Tlie State Cabinet dealt with the question of unemployment at relief work rates and conditions for all trades. A wage increase was agreed upon, and the 40 hour week reduced to 35 hours. The Premier, Mr Lang, stated that the Government had definitely decided that there would be no alteration in the closing hours of hotels. An increase in stamp duties and death duties was agreed upon at a Cabinet meeting. The Government also .decided to raise additional revenue by means of a special tax on petrol bowsers.
