AMY JOHNSON AT MOSCOW
(United Press Association—By Electrio Telegraph—Copyright) LONDON, 13th January The “Daily Mail’s” Moscow correspondent says that- Miss Amy -Johnson flew over Moscow in a Soviet two-seater, fitted with skiis. Officials at Moscow aerodrome insisted that she should try one of the Soviet machines accompanied by a mechanic. She -vas aloft for ai. hour and larded perfectly. She remarked: “Skiis are easier than wheels and when you land it does not seem that you arc on earth again.” FALL INTO THE SEA REPORT OF TRADE WIND NEW YORK, 13th January. The Mackay Radio Company to-day announced receipt of a message from the liner President Garfield, saying that San Miguel radio station at the Azores broadcast the following: ‘‘Understand Trade Wind fell in the sea about twenty miles off Mosteiros point, St. Michael’s Island. All ships are advised to keep a lookout and report to this station if anything is seen.” THE WORST FEARED (Received 14th January, 1.50 p.m.) AZORES, 13th January.. A violent storm is raging and it is practically impossible for Maclaren and Mrs Hart’s aeroplane to be still afloat. Fishermen’s reports suggest that it fell in the sea 20 miles from San Miguel. The only hope is that a small vessel not equipped with wireless took the flyer3 aboard. SOUTHERN CROSS JUNIOR NEW ZEALAND TOUR PROPOSED (By Telegraph—Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Guy Menzies and his partner,. A. E. James, will probably remain in the city until the Southern Cross Junior is repaired. A tour of New Zealand, is under consideration but no definite plans have yet been made. INJURED PILOT HASTINGS, This Day. Buckeridge, the pilot of a Spartan ’plane which crashed at Waipiro Bay on Ist January, was sent to hospital to-day for the removal of an injured eve.
