ENGLISH RIDER CRASHES (By Telegraph—Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, 12th January. George Greenwood, the English rider, crashed at Monica Park Speedway this evening while attempting to break the track record. Although dazed, he was not seriously injured, and later walked to a taxi. Mr Guy Menzies was driven round the track in an open car, and was accorded a tremendous reception. He shook many liand9 which were thrust at him through the fence. He did four laps on a machine, but did not go fast, as he explained that it was some years since he had ridden, and it would look bad for him to fall. Lunn, 2. Time, Imin 25 1-5 sec. Only two finished. Won by two lengths. In a special match between C. Blacklock and E. R. Marsh, Blacklock won two of three heats. Time, lmin 23 3-5 sec, lmin 2G l-ssec, and lmin 25see. E. G. Pyke failed to win the Chevrolet Gold Helmet from the holder, P. Lunn, who won the first two heats. Times, lmin 25sec, lmin 24 2-ssee.
