RIOTING IN INDIA BATON CHARGES BY POLICE (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 13th January 10.40 a.m.) DELHI, 12th January. Grave disorders occurred at Bombay following news from Poona of the execution of four Indians for the murder of policemen in the Sholapur riots last May. Groups of excited Indians paraded the city and forced shopkeepers to close. Trams, taxis, and other vehicles were stoned and traffic completely paralysed. Police reinforcements dispersed the crowds in a scries of baton charges. Many were injured. Commissioner of Police Wilson was stoned anil jeered.

After the execution there was a tense situation at Poona. Shops closed and crowds marched on the gaol. They were stopped by the police, who charged inflicting numerous casualties. Later the gaol was surrounded by armed police.
