Mr W. V. R. Fletcher LL.B., formerly of Wellington and more recently of Dunedin, has joined the stall of Messis Pitt and Moore, in Nelson.
Mr J. W. Furrie, assistant postmaster, Dunedin, who with his wife and family lias spent his annual leave with Air and .Mrs J. A. Cardno, is motoring home during the week.
Wainui House visitors include: Mrs and Miss Selby Smith (London); Dr. and Mrs Stringer and children (Christchurch); Mr and Mrs T. J. Walker (Dunedin); Mr and Mrs A. Bond (Auckland); Miss J. Barclay (Invercargill); Miss M.. Barclay (Kurow); Mr H. Pitts Brown (Wanganui); Miss J.. Levene (Auckland), Mrs and Misses Darling (2), (Oamaru).
The funeral of the late Mr W. J. Rowe, manager of the Nelson branch of the Bank of Now Zealand for the past three years, was very largely attended, and was a striking tribute to the widespread esteem in which the deceased was hold by the business community. The chief mourner was Mr K. Ryan, bro-ther-in-law of Auckland. The service was conducted '-y Archdeacon Dart, and members of the bank staff, Messrs E. W. Maunder, It. I. McGregor, R. W.. Smith, 11. A. D. Fowler, F. J. Wilson, and A. V. Miller acted as pall-bearers, while all the organisations with which the deceased had been connected were strongly represented.
