FARM HAND’S LUCKY ESCAPE .BLINDED BY LIGHTNING At least one farmer in the Wlmngarei district, considers the rain storm of a few days ago did him more harm than good. Ho is Mr W. Dobson, Matingatapere, who lost two valuable 'grade .Jersey cows and a- heifer through being struck by lightning. On Wednesday afternoon, Charlie Mills, a, youth employed on the farm, was driving a herd of thirty cows through a paddock to the milking shed. The animals were quiet and it had ceased raining, but thunder was still • rolling overhead. There was a brilliant flash of lightning, and when Mills was able to see again, four animals were lying on the ground an arm’s length from where he stood. Three of the animals were killed outright, but a fourth recovered from its stunning within halt an hour.
