The death occurred on Friday' at Manaroa of Mr William Henry Harvey, one of the best known and most highly respected of the Sounds settlers. He was horn at Auckland 84 years ago and spent his boyhood at Bay of Islands, coming to the Sounds with his parents when a young man of about 19. At the time of the Wakamarina rush he was trading between Nelson, the Sounds, and Wellington, in small schooners and later he was engaged in the sawmilling industry in the Pelorus. but in more recent yeai’s he devoted his energies to farming at Manaroa. He was very widely respected and his loss will be felt by the Sounds community. Until four or five months a<n>, when he suffered an illness, Mr Harvey enjoyed remarkable health. The family are Mrs P. Hacquard, of Pelorus; ML T. D. McManaway, of Picton; Miss Harvey, of Pelorus; Mrs F. L. Ward, of Blenheim, Mrs Lampard, of Wellington; and Mr L. A. Harvey, of Pelorus. The interment took place at Manaroa yesterday.
