Arrangements are in hand to send several rinks to Blenheim on Saturday, 24th January. It is hoped to make the number up to eight rinks, and this will be the largest to travel from a single club. Those who make the journey will have the pleasure of a return visit towards the end of next month. Members are advised to consider the rinks for the annual Easter tournament. Already several rinks have been made up.
DISTRICT COMPETITION
The District Competition (Field Cup) Maitai v. Richmond was played at Richmond on Saturday last, four rinks aside. The match resulted in a win for Richmond by 15 points. The following are the scores (Richmond rinks first): —Pickup, Lloyd, Kinvig, Newport (s) 19, Russell,. A. Gibbs, Aydon, T. Dee (s) 18; Lusty, Daynes, Papps, Kelly (s) 18, Brickland, L. Forster, Stevens, Johnson (s) 20; Thomas, Powell, G. Dee, Hockey (s) 22, Penney, Keech, Tunnicliffe, Stringer (s) 19; Wilson, Eastgate, Norris, Smith (s) 24, Kitchingman, Barnes, P. Gibbs, Logan (s) 13. At the end of the game, Mr Johnson, president of the centre, congratulated the Richmond Club on their win and thanked for the entertainment, Mr Daynes replied on behalf of Richmond. Cheers were exchanged. The ladies were thanked for their services in dispensing afternoon tea. There was only four sets of pairs playing a friendly game on the Maitai green.
