MELBOURNE, 9th January,

A. strike of casing workers employed in the meat export trade over rates of p’fiy is in progress, and is likely to be protracted. Employers offered £5 3s 6d per week, but casing workers demanded £5 ss. Exporters have decided to close all branches of tlie meat works till the strikers resume.
