MOTOR CYCLE NOTES
MEETING ON SATURDAY RIDERS AND MACHINES (By “Spark Plug’’) Entries are coming in. well for the race meeting on Saturday next. Percy Coleman has entered two machines —his 7-9 Harley-Davidson and a 3J, Royal Enfield. This is Coleman’s first appearance in Nelson on an English machine and may be taken as indications of the trend of favour to the British product. Reg. Ranby, who lias done very well in the North, is appearinpr on a Harley. This rider was- not favoured with good luck in Nelson at the last meeting, and it is hoped that this time ho will be more successful. Tui Morgan can always be relied upon to put up a good show and is an ever popular rider. This time he is entering two Harleys. S. Morrison has entered a Scott, a machine which is a new comer to the track in Nelson and its violent acceleration and high pitched exhaust note should get the crowd on its toes. Amongst the local entries are W. Iliggs on a Matchless;. T. A. Fuller, Ariel; R. Everett, Indian; J. Flower, H.D. and A.J.S.; 0. Ariel; and J. Mitchell. Norton.
Tile Indian ridden by Everett is a veteran to the track, being the machine on which Spencer Stratton used to do so well here, and it still can show a surprising turn of speed. The well known Blenheim enthusiasts, Rutlidge and Collie, will also be seen. With the good weather prevailing and the excellent state of the track for the large field an exciting day’s sport should be forthcoming on Saturday.
