STRIKE OF SHEARERS

TROUBLE IN QUEENSLAND

POLICE DRAW REVOLVERS (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 6th January, 10.10 a.m.) BRISBANE, This Day. The shearers’ strike in the north is causing trouble. When a batch of southern shearers arrived at Mildura station under police escort they were met by 200 local pastoral workers. The police drew revolvers and challenged the local men for obstructing the King’s highway. Then men then assured the police that they did not intend to use force, and later persuaded some of the visitors to join their cause.
