WEATHER IN 1930

A DRY YEAR ALMOST A RECORD i In only two years since 1883 has the rainfall been less than that recorded for 1930, with 25.08 m. In 1885 the precipitation was 21.71 in, and in. 1919 the record of 20.58 in was established. The average yearly rainfall over the past 47 years has been about 38in, so it will be seen that 1930 is well below the average. The year opened with nearly 6in of rain falling in January. The delayed summer then set in, and in the next two months just over an inch of rain was recorded. April’s fall of 4.72 in was above the average, but May with 2.53 in and June with only just oyer half-an-inch, saw the half-year end with 14.69 in. July was another dry month —as a matter of fact the winter all through was a sunny one. The rain in the remaining months of the year also fell short of the average. In 1929 the year was just the opposite, 48.61 in being recorded, nearly llin falling in tho last two months.
