SCOTTISH GATHERING
lIIELAN’ MEN, FAE HIE’LEN GLEN
The sports held under the auspices of the Nelson Provincial Scottish Society in the Botanical Reserve took place to-day under ideal weather conditions and a fair attendance during the morning, which was much augmented during the afternoon. The day’s proceedings started with a parade from the Church Steps, competitors and pipers, local and visiting, taking part, followed with a inarch through the city streets to the Reserve. The morning’s results were as follows : . March and Dance. Ist prize 30s, 2nd 7s bd (two competitors).—A. Brash (Motueka) 1. R. W. Hilson (Christchurch) 2. Highland Fling (under 12). Ist prize medal and 15s, 2nd 7s 6d (eight competitors).—l. Taylor (Masterton) 1, G. McKay 2. . Lament (open). Ist prize 455, 2nd 20s 3rd 7 S 6d (five competitors).—b. Chisholm 1, D. Graham 2, A. Gill 3. Sword dance (under 16). Ist prize medal and 20s, 2nd 10s, 3rd ss_ (eight competitors). —b. Stewart (Wellington) I, R Scott (Wellington) 2, D. Gill (Blenheim) 3. Marches (open). Ist prize 60s, 2nd 355, 3rd 255, 4th 10s (seven competitors). — A. Gill (Blenheinrt 1, J. Patterson (Nelson) 2, N. Banks (Denniston) 3, J. Topp (Motueka) 4.
