Mr Justice Pike completed an inquiry into soldier settlements on behalf' of the Commonwealth Government. He severely criticises the State Government's buying land unsuitable for soldier settlement, with the result tln.t the majority of soldiers had not the slightest' chance of making a success.

Mr Justice Pike's report also, condemns the political interference associated with the administration of soldiers' holdings. The Commonwealth has loaned to date £35,000,000 for soldier settlements.
