MOTUEKA
CONCERT AND GYMNASTIC DISPLAY
A very successful concert and gymnastic display arranged by tile Yloiueka Methodist Young Men’s Bible Class was held in the institute Hall, the programme being thoroughly appreciated and enjoyed by a large audience. The success of the function was largely due to the generous assistance given by Miss Dailey, Messrs Huggins and Marks and St. John’s Gymnastic Club of Nelson, who provided the major part of the entertainment. Yliss L. Hulbert, accompanist, and the Motueka Bible Class also deserve praise for the excellence of their work. The programme was as follows:—Recitation, Mr Huggins; parallel bar display, St. John’s Club (Messrs Hollyman, Chapman, Smith, Gay and TattonJ; humorous monologue, Mr Marks; solo's ("Mandalay” and "Waiata Roi”) Mr Huggins; club swinging, Miss I. Moss and Messrs Hollyman and Chapman); solo (“Love’s Old Sweet Song”), Miss Dailey ; vaulting horse display, St. John’s Club; pyramids, Motueka Y.M. Bible Class; Humorous monologue, Mr Marks; dumbell drill, Motueka Y.M. Bible Class; solo (“In the Warwickshire Way” and “Somewhere a Voice is Calling”), • Mr Huggins; illuminated club swinging, Miss I. Moss and .Messrs Hollyman and Chapman; pyramids, Motueka Y.M. Bible Class; solo (“Whatever is is Best”), Miss Dailey; sketch (“The Secret of the Trunk”), Motueka Y.M. Bible Class. The Rev. L. A. Brooks, who acted as chairman, sincerely thanked the visiting artists from Nelson for their very generous support.
