CHASE BY POLICE
I r OR YOUNG MAORIS (By Telegraph—Press Association) ' GISBORNE, 2nd August. A. fortnight ago a car belonging to Frank Hildreth, of Mangawai, llawkes Ray, was stolen from his homestead .and two days later found capsized and abandoned on the coast road north of Gisborne. A search was mudo by tho police for two native youths, who, with a. Maori girl, have been absent from the locality, and after a strenuous chase over rough country this morning they were captured, tho gir.l, with a sprained ankle, having to be carried about a mile. Tho youths, Jimmy Lawson and Edward Tainai, charged with stealing the car, were before the Court and remanded. The girl, charged with (-absconding from, licensed service, was also remanded.
