"GOING UP"
FINAL PERFORMANCE BY LOCAL AMATEURS The Nelson Amateurs gave, the final performance of the "Going L T p"' season, to a large audience at the Majestic Theatre last night. Everything went with a swing, the players appearing very much at home in their respective parts and receiving warm applause repeatedly. At- the conclusion of the performance a number of bouquets and piles and piles of packets of sweets were handed onto the stage for the performers. The. president of the Society, Dr. W. D. Stoney Johnston, thanked the many people who had assisted the production, particularly the very fine orchestra under Ah- Julius P.. Lemmer. Airs 1 Inline, the producer, was cordially received by the audience and performers. She was the recipient of a bouquet and arms full of parcels. Mrs Hulme spoke of the difficulties encountered by amateurs on the stage. but made congratulatory reference to the splendid manner in which the members of the local society had worked to present "Going Up"' after but three weeks' work. TM<> company left for Blenheim to-day and will play there to-mcrrow night.
